Government Canyon State Natural Area

Government Canyon State Natural Area preserves 12,000-acre of rugged hills, canyons, and wilderness. It offers more than 40 miles of trails. Recreational activities includes hiking, camping, picnic, and bird watching. Walk through through e Joe Johnston Route to the Zizelmann House has 110 million year old dinosaur tracks and a prehistoric midden. For scenic views, hike the Far Reaches Trail to the Chula Vista and Sotol overlooks, or to the North and South Bluff Spurs overlooks.
