Assateague State Park is the only oceanfront park of Maryland. Located on Assateague Island, the state park is surrounded by Assateague Island National Seashore. It features 2 miles of beaches by the Atlantic Ocean. Popular beach activities include swimming, beachcombing, sunbathing, surfing and fishing. The marsh area of the park is known for wildlife including deer, waterfowl and feral horses. Park recreation activities include hiking, wildlife viewing, and camping.
