Swallow Falls State Park

Swallow Falls State Park located 9 miles north of Oakland is known for its recreation area. The park along Youghiogheny River features 53 foot waterfall known as Muddy Creek Falls and other smaller waterfalls. It is the highest free-falling waterfall of Maryland. The par is home to tall Old hemlock trees with some 300 year old. Park activities include hiking, mountain biking, camping, and picnicking. The 5.5 mile hiking and mountain biking trail connects the state park with Herrington Manor State Park.
