Itasca State Park

Itasca State Park is known as the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Located in northern Minnesota, the park is popular for Lake Itasca scenic area. Itasca State Park is popular for wildflowers, bird watching and summer activities in Lake Itasca. Tourist also enjoy wading acroos the shallow 18-inch deep water to cross over from the east side to the west side, where a rock dam indicates the end of Lake Itasca and the beginning of this mighty river. Recreation activities within the park include floating on inner tubes, canoeing, boating, and kayaking.
