The Legion of Honor, also known as the California Palace of the Legion of Honor is a part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. The collections at the Legion of Honor displays 4,000 years of human history including European paintings; European decorative arts and sculpture; ancient art from the Mediterranean basin; and one of the largest repositories of works of art on paper in the nation.

Ancient Art
The Ancient Art collections of the museum is housed in the Hall of Antiquities and in a mummy room in Gallery 1. It contains a number of rare works from Egypt, the Near East, Greece, and Rome spanning more than 5,000 years. Notable ancient collection include an Assyrian stone relief and carved ivories from the ancient site of Nimrud, an Achaemenid Persian wall relief from the palace of Darius in Persepolis, Egyptian mummies, coffins, and a 4,000-year-old carved wood figure of Seneb, the Egyptian royal scribe, as well as classical marble sculptures and painted vases.
Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts (AFGA)
Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts (AFGA) collection of the museum includes more than 90,000 works of art on paper: prints, drawings, and artists' books.
Photography
The photography collection includes historical photographs of American and European 19th-century.
European Decorative Arts
European Decorative Arts collection of the museum includes French eighteenth-century furniture, decorative arts, and mounted porcelain from the Collis P. Huntington Collection and Mildred Anna Williams.
European Sculpture
European Sculpture is one of the founding collections including masterworks by Auguste Rodin formed by Legion founder Alma de Bretteville Spreckels, the most famous of which, The Thinker, has become the emblem of the museum.
