Studebaker National Museum is dedicated to automotive and industrial history of South Bend. The 3-levels museum features display of vehicles, archives, and artifacts of Studebaker and related industrial innovators. Collection of the museum includes seven objects designated as National Treasures including the carriage Abraham Lincoln rode to Ford's Theatre the night of his assassination, and a carriage used by the Marquis de Lafayette during his farewell tour of United States in 1824.
Located inside the Century Center in downtown, South Bend Museum of Art (SBMA) is dedicated to art, history and culture of the region and nation. The 3-levels museum features historical and contemporary art in five galleries. Permanent collection of the museum presents over 60 years of acquisition and it features the work of historical Indiana artists, and significant contemporary regional artists.
Potawatomi Zoo located in Potawatomi Park features over 500 animals. The 23 acres zoo is home to mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, and invertebrates. The zoo exhibits include Africa, Asia, Australian Trail, Cat House, The Americas, and Zoo Farm. Other attraction of the zoo include zoo train, carousel, farm feeding, and animal encounters.
Basilica of the Sacred Heart located on the campus of the University of Notre Dame is a popular Roman Catholic church. The neo-gothic church features 44 large stained glass windows, murals, and 230 feet high basilica bell tower. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart serves as the mother church of the Congregation of Holy Cross in the United States. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. where university is in session and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during breaks and inter-sessions.
The History Museum collect, preserve, interpret, and exhibit the heritage of the St. Joseph River Valley region. The History Museum adjacent to the Studebaker National Museum is the second oldest historical society in Indiana that features 38 room Oliver Mansion and 1920s Workers Home. Guided tours of the Oliver Mansion and the Worker's Home are offered everyday.
