National Museum of African American Music (NMAAM) located in downtown is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the many music genres created, influenced, and inspired by African Americans. The museum tours start daily at 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and it lasts about 90 minutes. The museum's collections share the story of the American soundtrack by heroes of the past and present. The museum's permanent collection include instruments, stage costumes, sheet music, recording equipment, and photographs of African Americans and their music history.
