Fort Wayne Children's Zoo located in Fort Wayne's Franke Park is home to over 1,000 animals. The 38 acres zoo exhibits include African Journey, Australian Adventure, Central Zoo, Indonesian Rain Forest, and Treetop Trail. Other attraction of the zoo include railroad, carousel, sky safari ride, and crocodile creek adventure ride.
The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory located in downtown houses over 25,000 square feet of indoor gardens. The Conservatory features four outdoor gardens and three indoor gardens with variety of plant collection. The gardens of the Conservatory are home to over 500 different species of plants, and 72 different types of cactus. The indoor gardens are Showcase Garden, Tropical Garden, and Desert Garden. The outdoor gardens are Exploration Garden, Terrace Garden, Streetside Garden, and Beverforden Garden.
Fort Wayne Museum of Art (FWMoA) located in downtown features 5,000 American paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and photographs. Permanent collection of the features notable works that reflect American history. The museum includes art created after 1850 from notable artists like Janet Fish, George Inness, Alma Thomas, Mark di Suvero, Richard Greenough, Chuck Close, Jasper Johns and many more. The museum exhibits feature art from 19th century to modern day.
Science Central is an interactive science museum that features 35,000 square feet of exhibit space, temporary exhibition area, classrooms, and demonstration theater. Permanent exhibits of the museum include more than 200 hands-on exhibits focused on teaching science concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Historic Old Fort is the fort built in 1815-1816 under the command of Major John Whistler by American troops. The all-wooden fort was designed to be defended against Native American attack. The grounds of the Fort are open to explore at any time. The buildings are only open to the public during listed events.
Engine House No. 3 located in downtown is a historic fire station and museum. The two-story Romanesque Revival style red brick building was built in 1893. Additional renovations were done between 1998 to 2009 and in 2019 to expand the exhibit area. Collection of the museum include Steamer #3, 1913 White Hose Wagon, 1927 Ahrens Fox engine, House Stalls, Hand Pumperm pictures, hand tools, uniforms, and old fire gear. The museum also teaches fire safety to young and old alike.
Castle Gallery is the Richardsonian Romanesque style mason built in 1905. The castle was a wedding present for B. Paul Mossman and his bride. The historic castle is now art museum that featured artists from around the world.
Lakeside Park & Rose Garden features more than 2,000 rose plants of 150 varieties. The 25.8 acres park offers many activities such as trails, playgrounds, fishing, ice skating, picnicking. It also includes tennis and basketball courts. Two pavilions in the park can be rented for private event.
The 255 acres park features four miles of river bank. The park includes tennis courts, children play area, picnic areas and replica of Abe Lincoln's Birth Cabin. Foster Park is popular for floral display each season. The 2 miles loop offers running, walking, and biking activities.
Eagle Marsh Nature Preserve is located on the southwest border of Fort Wayne. The 831 acre preserve features 14 miles of trails that offers opportunity to see varied habitats of wetland, meadow, prairie, and forest. The area is home to more than 250 kinds of birds and other creatures such as amphibian, reptile, and bald eagles.
