Children's Museum of Indianapolis is the world's largest children's museum with over 130,000 artifacts and specimens. The museum has 5 floors of exhibits divided into the American Collection, the Cultural World Collection, and the Natural World Collection. The museum exhibit includes Take Me There: Greece, American POP, Power of Children, Stories from Our Community, Dinosphere, Beyond Spaceship Earth, ScienceWorks, Fireworks of Glass, Mini Masterpieces, Treasures of the Earth, Playscape, and All Aboard. Dinosphere exhibit features several species of dinosaurs. The museum also hosts performances and plays at the Lilly Theater.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) racing circuit is home of the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, and formerly the home of the United States Grand Prix. It is the largest racing venue in the world. In addition to the Indianapolis 500, the speedway also hosts NASCAR's Brickyard 400 and Pennzoil 150. From 2000 to 2007, the speedway hosted the Formula One United States Grand Prix, and from 2008 to 2015 the Moto GP.
The Canal Walk is part of the Indiana Central Canal stretching north through White River State Park to 11th Street. The area is known as waterside walking, running, and biking. It includes rental pedal boats that can be rented west of the Indiana State Museum.
Located in downtown area, White River State Park is home to many attractions of the city. The park includes Indiana State Museum and IMAX Theater, Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, NCAA Headquarters and Hall of Champions, Medal of Honor Memorial, Victory Field, Military Park, Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn Concert Series, and Indiana Cross Country Arena.
Located in downtown, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is part of White River State Park. The museum exhibits history and cultures of Native Americans and the American West. Collection of the museum includes American, Western, and Contemporary Art collections.
Located in White River State Park, Indianapolis Zoo is home to more than 3,800 animals of more than 320 species and subspecies. The Zoo is organized around the concept of biomes: Deserts, Flights of Fancy, Forests, Oceans, and Plains. Each biome exhibits plants and animals that survive in that habitat. Indianapolis Zoo has large dolphin pavilion with dolphins view from underneath the surface of the water. Other attraction of the zoo includes Dolphin In-Water Adventure, Carousel, and White River Gardens.
Located in White River State Park in downtown, Indiana State Museum exhibits features Indiana's history, arts and natural sciences. The museum building represent Indiana's 92 counties integrated into its exterior walls. With more than 500,000 objects, the museum collection is focused on six areas: Ice Age paleontology, Abraham Lincoln, Indiana art and artists, quilts and textiles, Indiana industry, technology, and agriculture, and Indiana archaeology.
The Indiana State Soldiers and Sailors Monument is a 284 ft 6 in tall monument built on Monument Circle. The monument is an iconic symbol of Indianapolis and popular tourist attraction. There is an observation deck that can be access by an elevator and stairway. The monument also includes the Colonel Eli Lilly Civil War Museum and a gift shop.
