Gathering Place located on the bank of the Arkansas River is a popular riverfront park. It features numerous walking and biking trails. Park attractions include Chapman Adventure Playground, Spiral Connector, Land of the River Giants, Skywalk Forest, Fairyland Forest, Volcanoville, and Charlie's Water Mountain. It also includes court for basketball, volleyball, street hockey and street soccer. The park is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and does not require admission fee.
Philbrook Museum of Art was the gift of the 72-room mansion and surrounding 23 acres of grounds as an art center from Oklahoma oil pioneer Waite Phillips and his wife Genevieve to the city of Tulsa. The museum is located in a former 1929s Italian Renaissance villa. Museum collection includes Native American art featuring basketry, pottery, paintings and jewelry. The museum has outdoor 25-acre of formal and informal gardens known as Philbrook Gardens.
Tulsa Zoo is located in Mohawk Park and owned by the City of Tulsa. The 85 acre zoo is home to over 1,500 animals of 400+ species. The zoo exhibits include Lost Kingdom, Robert J. LaFortune Wild Life Trek, Rainforest, Chimpanzee Connection, Helmerich Sea Lion Cove, Penguin Habitat, African Plains, Children's Zoo, and Dave Zucconi Conservation Center. Other attractions of the zoo include safari train, wildlife carousel, camel rides, and giraffe feedings.
Woody Guthrie Center located in the Tulsa Arts District is dedicated to the life of Woody Guthrie. He was one of America's greatest folksingers and songwriters. The Woody Guthrie Center preserves his archives including manuscripts, lyrics, correspondence, artwork, scrapbooks, musical recordings, books, and photographs.
The Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art, known as Gilcrease Museum, houses collection of the art, culture and history of North America. With more than 350,000 items, the museum collection ranges from 12,000 BCE to the 21st century. The museum includes more than 350 years of American paintings, sculptures, and works on paper, including the largest public holdings of art of the American West.
Tulsa Air and Space Museum (TASM) & Planetarium is located near the Tulsa International Airport. The aerospace museum features historical exhibits, hands-on activities, and vintage aircraft. The museum exhibits include Spartan Executive Model 12, MD-80, Grumman F-14A Tomcat, Rockwell Ranger 2000, Bell 47-K Helicopter, MiG-21, and Autonomous Unmanned Reconnaissance Aircraft (AURA). The planetarium offers full dome digital shows as well as traditional star shows.
